The sizes of Italian posters are different and they depend on the epochs when they were printed.

There are three important kinds of advertisement, which were given to the theatres, that are very well liked by the collectors:
  • LOCANDINA (insert)
  • FOTOBUSTAS (lobby card)
  • MANIFESTO (poster)

The locandina is introduced only in the post-war period and its sizes are 13 x 28 inch. Normally it is one for every film. Rarely are there two different locandina for the same film. It is almost always drawn.

The fotobustas is part of a set of scene pictures composed, at first, of 8, 10, 12, 14 or 16 pieces according to the occasion. The size varies in accordance with the year of the production. The classic sizes are:
  • 12 x 12 inch (30 x 30 cm)
  • 13 x 13 inch (33 x 33 cm)
  • 10 x 14 inch (25 x 35 cm)
  • 14 x 19 inch (35 x 50 cm)
  • 19 x 27 inch (50 x 70 cm) (from the fifties onwards)
  • 27 x 39 inch (70 x 100 cm) (double lobby card)
The manifesto may be drawn or photographic. In accordance with the epocs the sizes are:
  • 1/2 sheet - 19 x 27 inch (50 x 70 cm)
  • 1 sheet - 27 x 39 inch (70 x 100 cm)
  • 2 sheets - 39 x 55 inch (100 x 140 cm)
  • 4 sheets - 55 x 78 (140 x 200 cm)
Rarely are there manifesto with intermediate or larger sizes than four sheets.
